Changing Lives Through Music

  • The Cottontown Chorus of Bolton has established itself as a leading barbershop group within the UK. With a great sense of fun and a unique style of entertainment, the chorus has gripped audiences during its history of over 40 years.

  • Our singers come from every walk of life, none are professional singers. Few can read music. We just share a common goal of singing well and changing people’s lives for the better.

  • We perform at various events, some competitive, some commercial and some just social singing events. Get in touch if you have an idea.

Who we are

Our close-knit membership of nearly sixty has a strong commitment to vocal and performing excellence. Cottontown particularly enjoys competing in both national and international barbershop competitions. Well, respected stages around the UK including the London Palladium have given us the opportunity to wow audiences with stirring harmonies, emotional lyrics, exciting choreography, and visual effects

In competition, the Bolton-based group has succeeded in winning the much sought-after Gold Medal at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) convention nine times since 2005 and has represented the UK on four occasions at the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Convention held in the USA.

It was in 2008 when Cottontown Chorus probably attained most of its public attention by winning the adult section of the BBC 3 Choir Of The Year competition.

Thinking of making your next event unforgettable? Book your appointment today and let our talented musicians bring harmony to every moment. We're excited to help you create a melodic masterpiece you and your guests will love!

I have scribbled my way through so many adjudications of barbershop over the last 15 years. That was the BEST I’ve ever heard. In all the pzazz of that performance, the easiest thing to do is to lose the detail. And, you know, you never lost a detail in the middle of all that incredible performance - and I think that is admirable
